Maybe (I’ll Be Home Soon)

By  j o n  c o d e r

Another room too small for the space that it fills

And a sea of unknown faces sit to judge the man they see

My heart is split between this coffee church,

And this morning’s canceled gig

It’s another night with these same old songs

Do they care…do I

And if this is my dream then why

Do I just want to wakeup

And find you there next to me

Instead I’ve said sorry too many times

And I’ll be home as soon as I can

It reminds of the lies I never meant to tell

But it’s just two more gigs

Then I’m headed home…maybe

Street signs are flying past chased by the midnight hour

As I fight the sleep I push on to another day in another town

Me and the trucks share the road to the places that we go

Ok so they don’t share as much as I submit
